Privacy policy

Riksi is a design and development studio in Melbourne, Australia. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

• Enquiries. When you use the enquiry form, the Contact page or the chat assistant, we collect your name and email address. We also collect anything else you choose to tell us. That can be the service you want, your timeline and budget, your message, the chat conversation, and the page you sent it from.
• WhatsApp. If you message us on WhatsApp, the conversation happens in WhatsApp. WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our server keeps standard logs. These include your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit. We use them to keep the site safe and working. We also use your IP address for a short time to limit how many messages one place can send. This keeps spam out.

We don’t ask for sensitive information, like health or financial details. Please don’t send it through the forms or the chat.

How we use it

We use your information to reply to your enquiry and to talk with you about your project. We also use it to keep the website safe. We don’t sell or rent personal information. We don’t use the information you send us for advertising.

Services that help run this site

• Hosting. Our hosting provider stores the website and its database. Enquiries are saved in that database.
• Email. Each enquiry is also sent to the studio by email.
• Chat assistant. When the assistant uses AI, your chat messages go to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, to write the replies. Anthropic handles them under its commercial terms and privacy policy.
• Talk to Nick. If you choose to talk to Nick in the chat, your messages go to his phone through Telegram or WhatsApp (Meta), and his replies come back the same way. Those companies handle the messages under their own privacy policies. If you leave your email, we use it only to send you his reply.
• Search. Algolia runs the site search. The words you type in the search box go to Algolia to find results.
• Spam protection. The enquiry forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. When a form loads, Cloudflare checks information from your browser, like your IP address and browser details. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy applies.
• Advertising. Journal pages may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s Ads Settings. You can read how Google uses information from sites that show its ads at policies.google.com.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how people use the site. It shows which pages people visit, how they found the site, their type of device and their rough location. It uses first-party cookies and does not store IP addresses. You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking cookies.
• Fonts. The site’s fonts load from Google Fonts. So your browser shares your IP address with Google when it downloads them.

Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga) to count visits. On journal pages, Google AdSense may set advertising cookies, as explained above. If you use the display options, your choices are saved in your browser’s local storage, and they never leave your device. Studio staff who sign in to manage the site get WordPress login cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only as long as we need them for your enquiry and any work that follows. Then we delete them.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and access by people who shouldn’t see it. The site uses an encrypted connection, and only the studio can use the admin area.

See, correct or delete your information

You can ask what personal information we hold about you. You can also ask us to correct it or delete it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days.

Complaints

If you are worried about how we handled your information, please contact us first, so we can fix it. If you are not happy with our reply, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We will update this page if anything changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
